Defining Space is based on a simple idea that takes its starting point by removing all details of space and place, thus leaving a kind of ‘non-space’ behind. The physical subject matter – the arms of the human body in movement – is introduced, and as a result of this reduction of body-and-space, the arms becomes the only visible matter and thus also the one and only factor that is capable of ‘defining the space’.

The film follows a space that is being transformed in a constant flow of human angular arm- movements; the arms, their relationship, and the negative space between them becomes an embodied ‘moving architecture’; and the space, non-space and the defining thereof is what the film seeks to explore.
